Starlink Becomes the Fastest In-Flight Internet Service

Starlink, SpaceX's internet network powered by low Earth orbit satellites, has outpaced its competitors in in-flight internet performance during the first quarter of 2025. According to data shared by Ookla, airlines using Starlink redefined industry standards by achieving speeds exceeding 200 Mbps. The highest connection speed recorded was 254 Mbps, and Starlink also maintained its lead in median speed with 152 Mbps.

Starlink's offered low latency also drew significant attention. Providing an average latency of 44 milliseconds, Starlink delivered a latency approximately 15 times lower than the second-ranked MTN, which had a latency of 667 milliseconds. This substantial difference offers significant advantages, especially for applications like video calls and real-time data transfer.

Among the airlines utilizing the service, Hawaiian Airlines and Qatar Airways stood out in terms of performance. The highest speed achieved on Hawaiian Airlines was 276 Mbps, with a median speed measured at 161 Mbps.
