Meta to Alleviate Loneliness with Chatbots!

Meta is preparing to take user interaction to a different dimension with a new artificial intelligence-based project. The initiative, named Project Omni, includes chatbots designed to alleviate users' feelings of loneliness and encourage them to stay more active in the digital world. Unlike classic AI assistants, the developed system can initiate conversations on its own initiative, not just based on user commands.

According to sources close to Meta, Project Omni recognizes the user based on previous conversations and initiates new interactions using this historical data. If the user does not respond, the chat is automatically terminated. To avoid causing discomfort, the system does not send follow-up messages based on conversations held 14 days or more ago. However, even if no previous chats are found, the chatbot can spontaneously try to communicate with the user on a topic it thinks might be of interest.

The project is being developed on the Meta AI Studio infrastructure. The company aims for people to feel less lonely in digital environments and for their relationships with technological tools to become warmer and more organic. In line with this goal, a collaboration has been made with the Alignerr firm. Alignerr provides technical support for data analysis and the personalization of communication patterns within the system.

The project is still in its early stages. Meta has not made a clear statement regarding the commercial strategy it will pursue for this technology, when it will be launched to users, or on which platforms it plans to integrate it. However, it is stated that the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is specifically investing in artificial intelligence technologies to help people combat loneliness.
